The smaller the person, the more nicknames she requires
Since we gave our daughter a name (Catherine) and a nickname (Cassie) at birth, additional names would seem irrelevant, not least because we could simply call her "the kid" and know exactly who we mean.
But, each day of parenthood seems to require a new nickname for her. Here's what we have so far, in rough order from most- to least-used:
C.B.
Cassie
Cass
Cassie-boo
Cassie-bean
Boo
Cassafras
Plus: a myriad of names used only when she's being difficult, among them Pest, Pesty, The Pestilence, Her Pestilency, El Pesto, and Pesto-Changeo. (OK, I just made up the last two.)
One can only imagine what she'll be calling us soon enough...
